Pomona Playgroup started in 2009 with the aim of meeting an identified need in the community of providing a cost effective, social activity for children whilst also providing a friendship network for young families.
The playgroup meets every Tuesday morning during the school term from 9am until 11am at the Pomona Uniting Church hall. The cost is $3 for a single child or $5 for 2 or more children. The church provides a morning tea, which usually includes a variety of homemade scones, cakes and fruit, for all adults to enjoy however, due to allergy restrictions, we ask that children bring their own morning tea.
The venue provides a child safe environment providing both indoor and outdoor play areas (fully fenced) and is found beside the Museum in Factory Street, just opposite Page Furnishings.
Among an assortment of activities, the playgroup features a music and movement segment. During this time the children are involved in rhythm, song and dance, and story telling.
Parents are encouraged to be involved in craft, play and dance with their children as well as having the opportunity to talk among themselves and make friends in the area. Playgroup is co-ordinated by a qualified child care worker and member of the Pomona Uniting Church (in fact she’s married to the Pastor!) and supported by members of the congregation who are on hand to offer support to the children and provide morning tea for the parents. All church helpers have Blue Cards and receive ongoing child safe training so you can rest assured that your children are in a safe environment.
